Iakhina Albina Mukhametdinovna  (Сandidate of Philological Sciences, Yelabuga Institute (branch) of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education "Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University")

The article highlights the role of distant repetition as one of the means of interpreting the artistic meanings of a literary work. The effectiveness and efficiency of such approach, i.e. the identification and comprehension of remotely repetitive elements in the novel, is confirmed by the examples of the analysis of I. Murdoch's novel "The Black Prince". It is concluded that distant repetition provides logical perception, integrity and coherence of textual material, contributes to the disclosure of subtext, characterization of protagonists' images and their characters, as well as revealing the writer's attitude to what is written.
