The article substantiates the possibility of effective formation of decorative-coloristic and compositional competence of undergraduates-artists using the author's model of the methodological system, outlines the structure of the model and the results of the pedagogical experiment. The results of the study showed that the use of the developed methodological system in the course of studying the discipline "Decorative coloristic composition" leads to an increase in the level of mastering the laws, expressive means of composition among undergraduates; the quality of mastering the technique of creating a decorative coloristic composite image.
