The aim of this article is to reflect the ways of enhancing motivation to learn English among general engineering students. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the author proposes ways to increase motivation of general engineering students to learn English on the example of active teaching methods on the topic «Aviation». The author denotes the importance of communicative and general cultural competence. The author notes the importance of the content component in the study of English. The author proposes the use of active learning methods in the study of English with the possibility of practical application by teachers in groups of students.
