RESETTLEMENT ADMINISTRATION AND ORGANIZATION OF STATISTICAL AND ECONOMIC RESEARCH IN SIBERIA AND THE FAR EAST IN THE LATE XIX — EARLY XX CENTURIES

The article examines one of the aspects of the activities of the Resettlement Administration – the organization of statistical and economic study of Siberia and the Far East. It is alleged that up to the end of the XIX century, the actions of the authorities regarding the resettlement of peasants in Asian Russia were mainly of a restraining nature. The situation changed at the turn of the XIX–XX centuries, when a number of measures were taken to activate and streamline the resettlement policy, including the establishment of the Resettlement Administration. Particular attention in the article is paid to the development of statistical work at regional resettlement organizations, the creation of departments of current statistics.
