CONTEMPORARIES ASSESSMENT OF THE NEW ECONOMIC POLICY (MODERN VIEW OF THE PROBLEM)

The article analyzes a broad discussion that unfolded in the 1920s about the ways and prospects of the country's development in the context of a new economic policy, in which prominent economists, politicians and statesmen took part. On the example of numerous scientific articles published in the 1920s, speeches of political and state figures, an assessment of their positions on the most important issues is given. Conclusions are drawn about the reasons for the changes in the positions of the participants in the discussion by the end of the 1920s. The assessment of the NEP contemporaries is considered from a modern perspective primarily on the question of the reasons for its curtailment.
