the article examines the features of educational and professional motivation of students of colleges of railway transport. The basic requirements that apply to a graduate of a railway college are revealed. A special role and the primary place of functional literacy in the formed educational and professional motivation is highlighted. The possibility of using a technological workshop to form and increase the educational and professional motivation of students is being considered. The reflection of students of colleges of railway transport is studied as an integral part of the motivational value of students, their knowledge and activities.
