Baguzina Elena Ilinichna  ( PhD, Associate Professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University), Russia)

The article looks at some aspects of integrating new educational technologies as a means of improving students' foreign language professional training in a number of leading Russian universities. The use of the Internet and digital technologies, mobile devices, WebQuests and Podcasts as well as other new educational technologies appears to be well-justified in the epoch of The New WWW (World Wide Web). One of the major focuses of the article is to analyze students' progress when working on WebQuests, whose structure provide the necessary «stepping stones» not to get lost in cyber space, as well as students' project work on the whole which is integrated into the English Language Course for Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) students. WebQuests and project work have great potential in implementing the humanistic view towards university foreign-language education. They have proved to be efficient in developing students' foreign language communicative competence as well as tackling a number of challenges facing the digital generation, such as: low motivation to study, poor thinking skills, inability to interract along all the spectre of students'multiple intelligences. Thus, implementing the humanist view towards university foreign-language education will result in contributing to the making of future managers, experts and business leaders, who will benefit the society by setting up socially responsible businesses; promoting positive self-direction and independence; in developing the ability to take responsibility for what is learnt, as well as creativity, curiosity and an interest in art.
