Analysis of theoretical approaches to formation of professional competences at higher education institution

In article there are analyzed the theoretical approaches which are shown in interpretation of competence-based approach in the system of the Russian higher professional education. Substantial filling of concepts of competence, key competences and their transformation is investigated. The author also defines the process of formation of professional competences at modern higher education institution and need of its modernization taking into account the changing content of competence-based approach which is treated in the article as the category representing difficult, complex, but also, dynamically changing phenomenon making rather broad and variable impact as on educational process in general, and its results.
