The article reflects the influence of historical events, as well as class and political positions of the leading Soviet historians on their assessment of The concept of D. I. Ilovaisky in the domestic historiography of the second half of the Twentieth century. A comparative analysis of the study by various scientists of his socio-political and theoretical and methodological views. The dynamics in the development of the study of its concept is reflected. Features of studying of his works by them are revealed. Also formulated and identified the main points that distinguish it from other representatives of the noble and protective historical science.
