THE RELIGIOUS QUESTION IN THE POLICY OF THE BOLSHEVIKS IN THE EARLY YEARS OF THE SOVIET GOVERNMENT

The article is devoted to the religious aspect in the policy of the Bolsheviks in the early years of the Soviet government. The relevance of the article is due to the fact that it examines an extremely important aspect of the relationship between state power and the largest spiritual institution in society, which was the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). The purpose of the study is to reveal the nature of the relationship between the political power that has existed in Russia since October 1917 and the ROC, to show the influence of its policy on the state of the religious issue in Russia in the early years of the Soviet government. The authors show the incompatibility of the ideology of the new political government and its current policy with the principles on which the Russian Orthodox Church and its followers in Russian society have existed for a long time. In the course of their research, they consider the internal political actions that the Bolsheviks carried out in order to eliminate the religious issue.
