Thematic classification of phraseological units (on the material of Saint-Petersburg newspapers)

The article covers the ideographic (thematic) classification of phraseological units, as well as the features of the FU various groups functioning in journalistic texts. The frequency of the particular groups use is considered on the basis of St. Petersburg newspapers; the connection of social processes and the changes occurring in the language is analyzed.
