The role and place of Turkic borrowings in the history of the Romanian language

The article raises the question of Turkic borrowings in the history of the Romanian language. Their peculiarity is that this type of borrowing has always been indirect: Romanians had no direct contacts with the Turks. The periodization of the Romanian language perception of certain words is given. The main thematic groups of Turkic borrowings are considered, examples of certain shifts in the meaning of such words are given, the reasons for their occurrence are explained.
