Coherence in linguistics is the integrity of text, which consists in e logico-semantic, grammatical and stylistic correlation and interdependence of its constituent elements (words, sentences). One of the basic concepts of the theory of linguistics, denoting the coherence of the text and providing the internal lexical and grammatical coherence of the text is the interpretation of some elements of the text depends on others. This dependence allows the communicant to realize his communicative goals with the greatest precision and clarity. Coherence means the conceptual and semantic integrity of the text, when using certain linguistic units, forms and discourse markers. Cohesion is secondary to coherence, because it is an internal (structural) coherence, which is formal-grammatical coherence of discourse, while coherence is external and pragmatic interconnection of parts of a sentence or phrase that determine the choice of linguistic means for realizing the author's intention.

Keywords:coherence, cohesion, discourse, marker, semantics, syntax, connector, oral and written speech.
