Illustrative materials as a method for implementing the intersemiotic category (on the material of the German and USA press)

A newspaper article is an intersemiotic system aimed at a complex effect on the addressee. The aim of the study is to determine the features of the functioning of illustrative materials (graphic and iconic) as one of the ways to implement the category of intersemioticity in the press in Germany and the United States. In recent years, the dominant position in the press has often been taken not by the text, but by other components. In this case, the main information potential will lie precisely in the illustration. This problem has been little studied and requires further research. The graphic and iconic components are almost always found in intersemiotic systems, which implies a solution to the question of what the relationship of the verbal and non-verbal components is.
