The livestock activity of the population of the low mountains of the Altai Republicis investigated in the article. The influence of nature and climate conditions on the livestock breeding of the local population is observed. The analysis of methods of cattle maintenance is given. The role of livestock products in the life support system of the population of the low mountains of the region is described.
