CONCEPT "SURPRISE" IN THE MEDIA DISCOURSE (BASED ON GERMAN LANGUAGE)

The article deals with the concept of "Staunen" (surprise) in German media discourse. The relevance of the work is due to the growing emotiveness of the journalistic text, which often becomes an element of propaganda. There-fore, the study of the manifestations of basic emotions, which include the emotion "surprise" will contribute to a deeper understanding of the text, which will undoubtedly come in handy in the modern world, full of conflict-ing information. This concept is widely represented in the German press in such topics as nature / ecology, crime reports, economics and politics, children, food, social networks. The main lexical units that verbalize this concept in Ger-man are «das Staunen», «das Erstaunen», «die Verwunderung», and «die Überraschung» and their derivatives. They differ in intensity and emotional coloring. The nomination “Staunen” (surprise) is the most stylistically neutral, since it means only visual perception of the object of surprise. The lexeme "die Überraschung" (surprise) focuses attention on the effect of the unex-pectedness of what is happening. The lexeme die Verwunderung (amaze-ment) means the extreme degree of intensity of surprise. The greatest influence on the positive or negative assessment of "sur-prise" is played by the context. The conceptual signs of "surprise" are "sur-prise", "stunned", the desire to eliminate the "informative paradox", "curios-ity", "shock", "deception", "enthusiasm", "interest".
