The value of the Arctic region, including its unique nature, largest oil and gas resources, shortest water transport route and favourable strategic location, makes it a crossroads of geopolitical interests of world powers such as Russia, the United States, China and others. The international influence of Arctic energy resources and waterways is becoming more and more prominent, and Arctic countries and even countries outside the region are actively developing their own strategies for the development of this region. For a long time Russia has co-operated with the West in the Arctic region, but the events of recent years have prompted Russia to ‘turn East’. In order to accelerate the process of adjusting the Arctic development strategy, Russia has issued a number of new Arctic policy documents, raising the issue of Arctic development from a regional problem to the level of national security. Given the above circumstances, the analysis of the current status and prospects of Chinese-Russian cooperation in the Arctic should be updated and expanded. The article is devoted to Chinese-Russian cooperation in the Arctic in the period from 2013 to 2023. The study is based on the analysis of materials of the newspaper "People's Daily" about Russian-Chinese Arctic projects in order to determine the goals, problems and prospects of cooperation in this region. The main reasons for the rapprochement of the two countries in the Arctic are considered, in particular, China's desire to take a more active part in the development of the region, the search for alternative shipping routes, the pressure on Russia from the West, the unstable international situation, etc. The systematic analysis concludes that the active development of cooperation in the region is in the interests of both sides and contributes to the improvement of regional stability.
