ON THE INFLUENCE OF FREDERICK II ON PAUL I

Kostev A.   (Graduate student Moscow City Pedagogical University )

The article is devoted to the influence of the personality and views of Frederick II of Prussia on the Russian Emperor Paul I. Using domestic and foreign historiographical works, the author identifies the origins of this process, which includes the origin and upbringing of Tsarevich Pavel, as well as the policy of Frederick II to strengthen ties between Russia and Prussia, which was largely based on the personal relations of the monarchs. The formation of Pavel Petrovich's worldview was influenced by his personal meetings and conversations with the king in Prussia, during which he explained to the heir his ideas about government. At the same time, Frederick II was rather restrained in his statements about the future Russian emperor, who was delighted with the Prussian order and the personality of the king himself. These factors combined could have an impact on Paul's policy. At the same time, we are talking not only about the fairly well-known application of the Prussian order in the Russian army, but also about using the experience of this kingdom in other areas of Russian public life.

Keywords:Russia, Prussia, Paul I, Frederick II, politics, worldview, family ties, personality.
