This article is devoted to the analysis of the national and cultural specifics of the universal concept of «fate». In the Russian and Lezgian language worldviews, this concept is represented through lexical units, phraseological expressions and proverbs. It is established that the semantic content of the concept of «fate» in both linguistic cultures goes beyond the definitions recorded in explanatory dictionaries. In the Russian linguistic worldview, «fate» includes a wide range of associative connections, encompassing both philosophical ideas and elements of folk tradition. In Lezgian linguoculture, this concept has a sacred load, is deeply rooted in cultural attitudes and is considered as a significant component of national identity and worldview.
