The article is devoted to the issues of teaching professional idiomatic vocabulary to students of non-linguistic universities using the case study method. The author substantiates the relevance and significance of the research topic. It is stated that lexical idioms are one of the linguacultural markers of the country of the studied language, and the formation of knowledge and skills in their interpretation and application in communicative practice is a significant element of training a specialist in the field of international economic relations. The author proceeds from the fact that mastery of professional idiomatic vocabulary will allow the student in the future to strengthen existing and expand the range of newly acquired key prognostic (predictive) skills. The article points out the underdevelopment of the methodological approach to the formation of professional idiomatic competence in students of non-linguistic universities. The case study method is proposed as one of the possible options. A description of this method is given, the main advantages are indicated, an example of a case is given that can be used in the real practice of foreign language education of students of non-linguistic universities.
