PROBLEMS OF RURAL SOCIETY IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE REFORM OF ADMINISTRATIVE-TERRITORIAL DIVISION IN 1962–1966: BASED ON THE MATERIALS OF “LETTERS TO THE AUTHORITIES” FROM ALTAI KRAI

This article is devoted to identifying the main groups of problems of rural society within the framework of the reform of administrative-territorial division in 1962-1966 in the Altai Territory. The source base of the study was the materials of the "letters to the authorities", which were deposited in the fund of the Altai Regional Executive Committee in the State Archives of the Altai Territory. The author comes to the conclusion that, based on the analysis of sources, it is possible to identify 4 main groups of problems that were raised by the rural population. They are associated, first of all, with an increase in the time for traveling to the district center, a reduction in investments and the curtailment of projects for socially significant facilities in the settlements of the former districts, a decrease in control and supervision over settlements and enterprises in the territory of the former districts, as well as the breakdown of existing economic ties between villages and districts.
