This article is devoted to a problem of investigation of S. King´s idiostyle, it deals with the main Russian and foreign researchers, such as N. Palcev, R. Mironov, E. Zakharov, S. Zakharova, B. L. Bosky, T Magistral and others. Stephen King’s works are traditionally considered to be of a popular culture; there are lots of books, dedicated to it in the United States. However, the vast majorities of them only systematize information, but do not analyze it. Now, in Russia, there are few articles, books dedicated to him, and his works are rarely discussed in scientific papers. In this regard, the study of personal style of S. King is, in our view, an important task for linguists and philologists. Idiostile is a system of linguistic characteristics seen in the works of the author, which creates the author's unique method of language expression. Idiostile can be investigated through the establishment of individual deviations from common laws and principles of literary text structuring, and the subsequent analysis of these deviations through ideological grounds, predetermining idiostyle. In this work main characteristics, according to M.N. Makeeva’s markers (stylistic, lexical and grammar, phonetic and intonational, graphical, cultural, and lexico-syntactic), are analyzed. The material of this investigation is four novels – “Dreamcatcher”, “The shining”, “Carrie”, and “1408”. The main characteristics of S.King’s idiostyle are tropes (similes, metaphors, epithets, and personifications), puns use of phraseological units, non-standard language, realias, and sentence reduction. Finally it pointed out that works of S. King full of difficult problems and enrich mass culture. The dominant of his works is horror, and it influences his style and method.
