The analysis of the concept of the semantic field "self-sufficient person" in the Russian cultural field

The author conducts a system analysis of the concept of the semantic field ‘a self-confident personality’ based on the analysis of the main hero’s characteristics of a Solzhenitsyn’s work ‘One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich’ During the research by method of interpretation, description as well as a synchronic method , lexics of this semantic field is marked as well as characteristics forming the concept in Russian people’s mentality are defined. The author sees the research rationale in awareness of concepts and operation with their lexical units, which helps in realization of communication among people of different cultures and facilitates their mutual understanding. The conducted analysis proved that the concept ‘a self-confident personality’ is different from culturalogical positions but at the same time has a holistic basis determined by special words and word collocations as well as by a person’s behavior and life experience.
