Theactivities of the PRC in the organization of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)

PRC's participation in APEC is currently being considered not only as an en-hancement of the regional and global economic role of the country, but also as an internal challenge for China itself. Deeper integration through the project automatically enhances the liberal economic sentiment in the country, creating political pressure on the leadership. The article reveals that the deepening of the APEC format exacerbates the geopolitical and trade-economic contradic-tions of China with the United States, Japan and their allies, the project part-ners, to the extreme. China places particular emphasis on APEC, seeing it as the main counterbalance to the US Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Moreover, the Chinese believe that one of the goals of the US is to create trade isolation for the PRC and liquidate China's national enterprises.
