Linguistic and cultural content modern textbooks of the French language

The article deals with the linguistic and cultural content of modern French textbooks; knowledge and skills of students, formed in the learning process; criteria for selecting a linguistic material: authenticity, relevance, typicality, sociocultural informativity, relative accessibility of linguistic design, text capacity, relevance to the age and interests of students. When selecting literary texts, the principle of obligatoriness is also taken into account: the textbook includes excerpts from literary works known to each native speaker and constitute an important part of his national-cultural identity. This approach has been implemented in modern textbooks of French language for schoolstudents.
