Learning activities of the British Council in the sphere of art in the Republic of India

The topic being analyzed is the activities of the British Council in the field of education and culture in the Republic of India. The study object is the main education projects of the British Council in the sphere of culture in the Indian state. The author pays special attention to the analysis of these programs, their tasks and objectives and the main intended participants. The results of the implementation of these projects and programs, the signature achievements and their significance for the popularization and extension of knowledge about the culture and cultural values of Great Britain in the Indian society are considered separately. The analysis and synthesis, typological and comparative approach when considering documents and materials of research project were selected as the methods of research. The originality of the study consists in the analysis and systematization of documents and information content related to the learning activities of the British Council in the sphere of culture, conducted in the Republic of India, which have not been carried out in the scientific field up to the present day. This work will provide an opportunity to understand more deeply the nature and methods of the British Council's activities in other states (exemplified by the Republic of India) as an instrument for the implementation of the “soft power” of Great Britain on a worldwide basis.
