«Word of the Year» as a cultural phenomenon of neologization of the English language at the present stage of its development (on the example of the British and American versions of the Oxford University Press)

The article considers the cultural phenomenon of the national "word of the year" as one of the ways to enlarge the vocabulary of the language. The mechanism of neologization of the “words of the year” in the English language is analyzed, options for the “words of the year” according to the American and British versions of the Oxford University Press are considered.
