The article is devoted to the problems of reforms in the migration legislation of Germany and the integration of migrants from 1990 to 2020. The work uses the methods of retrospective, comparative and statistical analysis. The author outlines the key directions of the migration and integration policy of the Federal Republic of Germany, regulated by EU legislation on the integration of migrants, gives the main characteristics of the regulatory framework for migration relations in Germany. The article considers the normative legal acts that form the organizational and legal framework of the migration and integration policy of the Federal Republic of Germany. The author shows that in the early 90s, the integration of migrants in Germany turned into a national idea and a strategic task for ensuring sustainable economic development and solving the emerging demographic problems. The history of the issue is analyzed on the basis of an integrated approach to the legislative support of identification, social, cultural and structural integration, and building an effective system for the integration of immigrants into German society. It is shown what changes in the legislation of the Federal Republic of Germany have contributed, contribute and will contribute to the harmonization of German legislation with the EU legislation on the integration of migrants. From the German experience, through the modernization of its legislation, harmonized with European directives, it is possible to significantly improve the integration of migrants, which can be useful for shaping a policy and strategy for the integration of immigrants in Russia.
