Descriptive function of regionalisms

In the scientific literature, not all functions of regional vocabulary have been identified and described. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that the descriptive (descriptive) function of lexical units is considered on the basis of regional material. Examples of the implementation of the descriptive function are considered based on the study of lexicographic sources, functional and contextual research methods are used in the work. Developing the ideas of V.A. Nikonov, who proposed a descriptive function to explain onomastic phenomena, the author clarifies the concept of a descriptive function, which is considered for the first time in relation to common nouns. It seems that the descriptive function is a set of etymological, diachronic and synchronic stable associative connections that are generated by this word, "suggest" a possible discourse, form the direction in which it is necessary to comprehend the use of a lexeme (for example, a corresponding narrative). The descriptive function of regionalisms is most clearly manifested when comparing different discourses (regional and all-Russian, different regional discourses). A separate topic of study can be such a special case of the functional limitation of lexemes of local use as their discursive connectivity, and the need for such studies is due to the fact that these regionalisms are involved not only in the formation of local variants of the language picture, but can also be a means of identifying ideas about a given region among speakers of other regions or the national language in general.
