Formation of skills for free communication in a foreign language using the tandem method

The article deals with the a detailed examination and comprehensive analysis of the possibilities of the tandem method to increase the efficiency of the process of forming students' skills of free communication in a foreign language. The author positions the priority of the communicative and personality-oriented orientation of modern teaching foreign languages and highly appreciates the linguo-methodological potential of teaching a foreign language in tandem. The formation of the skills of free communication in a foreign language is implemented within the framework of the traditional three-stage model of a training lesson, described in detail in the article and including the stages of goal-setting, planning and setting tasks for free communication in a foreign language and control of results, feedback, reflection. Based on this model, the author has developed three micromodels of teaching free communication in a foreign language: "boomerang", "task-based lesson" and "problem-based lesson", as well as the author's model of teaching free communication using the tandem method, including projective-organizational, activity-technological, final-presentation and evaluative-reflexive stages.
