the article reflects the activities of the criminal investigation officers of Chuvashia in the period 1941-1945, where the main activities of the police were determined by the need to ensure law and order in the conditions of warfare. Since the beginning of the war, the police, including criminal investigation officers, were assigned a number of new functions that were not directly related to their functional duties in peacetime: combating military and labor desertion, observing the blackout regime, accounting and registration of the evacuated population and ensuring the protection and property of enterprises evacuated to the territory of the republic et al. Taking into account the peculiarities of the war period of 1941-1945, the police of Chuvashia tried to cope with the tasks assigned to them.
