ON THE QUESTION OF STUDYING THE HISTORY OF THE CREATION OF THE RUSSIAN DEFENSIVE FLEET (THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX – EARLY XX CENTURIES.)

The article reflects the main historical stages of the formation and study of the history of the creation of the defensive fleet in the second half of the XIX – early XX centuries. The significance of the research results lies in the search, study, analysis and systematization of the information material presented in scientific sources, which allowed us to draw a reasonable conclusion about the incomplete existing understanding of the stages and features of the formation of the Russian naval forces, due to the fragmentary coverage of individual plots, and, accordingly, the loss of significance of the work on the creation of coastal defense. The implementation of a comprehensive study within the framework of the present topic will make it possible to fill in the existing gaps and revive the historical path of the creation of the Russian defense fleet, using the material for the formation of historical literacy of its citizens.
