FEATURES OF FUNCTIONAL TRANSLATION IN THE CONTEXT OF THE LEGAL FIELD

Translation of legal texts, including terminology from Russian into Chinese and vice versa, is an interesting field of activity, taking into account the fact that we are talking about two completely different linguistic systems. This is expressed in the fact that the Russian language is inflectional, synthetic, with a wide system of case and verbal endings, with a free word order, while Chinese has analytical characteristics, for the most part, including auxiliary verbs and prepositions that determine the case forms of nouns, while syntactic features also distinguish it from the Russian language. All these characteristics require special attention when translating material from one language to another; details are important, as well as the general meaning and main idea of a passage, text or oral speech message. Functional translation for texts in this area is especially important, since the specifics of legal content require maximum accuracy and correctness of content transfer from one language to another. The relevance of this work lies in the need to improve the quality of translations from Chinese into Russian and vice versa precisely in terms of legal specifics, which requires special accuracy, and the slightest distortion of meaning and errors can cause misunderstanding of the other side and unnecessary friction between the parties to the interaction. The subject of the study is functional translation. The object of the study is the legal vocabulary of the Russian and Chinese languages. The novelty of the work lies in the recommendations that are proposed in this work to remove difficulties taking into account the functional translation of legal content from Russian into Chinese and vice versa. The practical significance of the work lies in the use of the proposed recommendations in the educational process, in methodological developments for translators, and as practical material for writing coursework and diploma projects.
