The article discusses scientific and methodological support for the development of the competitiveness of a future engineer in the process of teaching a foreign language at a university. It is noted that the competitiveness of an engineer is ensured by a combination of professional competencies and integrative personality qualities in a dynamically developing environment. The development of the ability to communicate in a foreign language is justified as one of the priority tasks of engineering education in a modern university. It has been revealed that the development of foreign language competence of engineers requires scientific and methodological support, developed and used in terms of focus on improving the competitiveness of a specialist. It is concluded that scientific and methodological support for the development of competitiveness of a future engineer in the process of teaching a foreign language at a university is implemented within the framework of the curriculum, program, thematic planning, technological support, selection of thematic content, technologies and methods of teaching a foreign language and the organization of a system of foreign language training of engineers based on the information and educational environment.
