The article reveals the features of the image of a female politician created in the modern information space and implemented in electronic media. On the one hand, women in modern media are portrayed in a gender–neutral way - as an equal element of the political space, acting on an equal basis with men. On the other hand, the image of a female politician actualizes standard, traditionally characteristic of Russian culture, stereotypical features: humanism, psychologism, attention to humanitarian problems - the theme of the family and related topics of childhood, health, culture, ecology, life and safety of the common man, etc. The image of a female politician in modern Russian media is ambivalent and contradictory: it is at the same time a strict colleague, an associate of a male politician and a caring mother who cares about the welfare of all citizens of the country, who extrapolated her maternal feelings to a wide range of people, striving to show maternal care for citizens.
