The article deals with the Russian (Soviet) children's poetic travelogue of the 1920-1930s on the example of poetic stories about foreign and world travels. The material of the analysis are the works of N. Smirnov, V. Mayakovsky, S. Marshak, K. Chukovsky. Such specific features of travelogues as the presence of a through character, the chronological sequence of events, the construction of plots based on the use of documentary material or fiction, informativeness, the presence of a main idea, etc. are revealed. With the help of contrast, detailed elaboration, original imagery, etc., the exoticism of the countries depicted, the specifics of different modes of transportation (train, ship, airplane, etc.), the fundamental differences between the USSR and other countries/regions of the world are shown. The author concludes that the children's poetic travelogue of the 1920s-1930s not only fulfills cognitive and didactic functions, but also solves important social problems.
