The proposed article puts forward the hypothesis of moderate mutual influence of Turkic and Germanic ethnic groups on each other's language and culture in the process of historical development. The author's aim is to consider the idea of pan-Turkism or pan-Germanism as redundant and finding no confirmation either in historical sources or in modern archaeological and biological studies. Based on the analysis of scientific literature in the field of not only philology, but also history, archaeology and biogenetics, the author comes to a conclusion that confirms the hypothesis, namely that the nature of interethnic relations developed in a spiral. At each new turn of history, both Germans and Turks were at a qualitatively different level of their development, so the degree of influence was different, the process of interaction continues to this day.
Keywords:Turks, Germans, Indo-Europeans, borrowings, archaeology, linguistics.
