INTERTEXTUALIZATION AS A MANIFESTATION OF THE CULTURAL CODE IN A LITERARY TEXT

This article examines the concept of the cultural code, which is interpreted as a complex way of displaying the surrounding reality. The communicative approach allows to focus on the participants of text communication. In the process of text communication, the reader is involved not only in the process of understanding, but also in the process of interpretation. As the initiator of communication the author has communicative intention which is aimed at complicating the communication in order to attract and retain the reader's attention. The author complicates the structure of his own text by increasing the meaning, exerting an aesthetic and cognitive-conceptual impact on the reader. Based on the material of M. Proust's work of fiction "À la recherche du temps perdu" ("In search of lost time"), the author analyzes ways to involve the reader in the active process of interpreting and deciphering the communicative intent of the author of a literary text based on the knowledge and experience available to the reader. As a result, it was found that the author's use of precedent phenomena is not only a means of self-expression of the author, but is one of the most effective ways to appeal to the reader's knowledge. The use of this technique is possible due to intertextuality – the property of any text to enter into a dialogue with other texts.
