This study is devoted to the study of the lexical features of the texts of modern German-language songs. The conducted research revealed that the lexical means of expressiveness of the language are quite readily used by the authors during the writing of their musical works to give euphony, a special expressive coloring and to convey their emotional state. The most frequently used techniques at the lexical level are metaphor, allegory, lexical repetition, synonyms, antonyms, phraseological units. Sometimes there is a pun (pun on words).
