The relevance of the article is due to the continuity of the main aspects of the establishment of professional fire protection in the capital of the Russian Empire in the work of the fire service today, both in the creation of new units, and in matters of development of the fire protection in general.
The purpose of the study is to determine the main directions of ensuring and developing fire safety aimed at fulfilling the tasks of modern fire and rescue units to extinguish fires and eliminate emergency situations, based on historical experience and professional competencies in the field of fire safety.
