FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING IN RUSSIAN EDUCATION OF THE XVIII – FIRST HALF OF THE XIX CENTURIES: FRENCH & GERMAN

In the article we will consider the specifics of foreign language education in Russia in the XVIII – first half of the XIX century. Let's identify the factors of popularization of the French and German languages. We are exploring the domestic methodology of teaching foreign languages. Let's analyze individual learning tools that have demonstrated their effectiveness in mastering foreign language culture in practice. By conducting a comparative analysis of the French and German languages, we investigate their meaning and then determine the position of foreign languages in relation to each other. Let's look at the curricula of secular educational institutions, as well as seminaries. Let's identify the differences in the approaches of teaching German and French.
