CHINA'S MEDIA IMAGE IN THE PAGES OF THE JOURNAL "VESTNIK EVROPY" IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

This research is devoted to the history of Russian journalism, the object of the study is the media image of China on the pages of the magazine "Vestnik Europa" in the second half of the XIX century. The articles of the magazine describe the struggle in the political, economic and cultural spheres of China, revealing the challenges and searches faced by the country in the process of modernization and internationalization. The journal's description of China as a "hot potato" depicts the combined efforts of China's feudal system, national capitalism, and the mass anti-imperialist movement to try to save the state.
