ZOOPHYTONYMS IN RUSSIAN AND KUMYK LANGUAGES

The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of Russian and Kumyk phytonyms with zoonymic components. There are many names in the Russian and Kumyk floristic terminology that contain the designations of representatives of the fauna. The signs of the nomination of plants with zoonymic components (color, shape, size, harmfulness) in the compared languages rarely coincide, which can be explained by the specifics of the national mentality. A considerable part of Russian and Kumyk zoophytonyms arose on the basis of metaphorical transfer. Compound names prevail in the Russian language, and composites prevail in the Kumyk.
