The study of foreign literature at school is extremely important in the cultural and spiritual development of students at the present stage. Among the most effective methods of comprehending the full depth of literary samples, philological analysis of the text is considered. The purpose of the research carried out in this article is to determine the potential of philological text analysis as part of the study of foreign literature in school lessons. In achieving our goal, we resorted to analytical and comparative research methods as the main ones. This article presents the main methodological aspects of philological analysis as a tool for improving the level of the educational process. The authors conclude that the use of philological analysis in secondary school practice contributes to the development of critical thinking and cultural values of students. Thanks to the gradual mastering of the mechanisms and techniques of philological analysis, the student is transformed into a philologically literate individual with a broad cultural outlook, capable of comprehending the depth of the general cultural process and establishing intercultural connections.
