Currently, euphemisms are being actively studied from the perspective of such sciences as sociolinguistics, linguoculturology, and cognitive linguistics. It is proved that euphemisms are an actual means of speech influence on the addressee of the text. The article analyzes euphemisms and their functions in media texts. Euphemization is a strategy for veiling unwanted information, allowing to muffle and reduce verbal aggression.
