In this paper nationally-specific precedent phenomena is examined as a translation challenge within the context of film text translation. The aim of this study is to identify and analyze adequate translation strategies for nationally precedent phenomena in series, using the animated series ‘Rick and Morty’ as a case study. The research objectives included examining the concept of precedent phenomena and their classification, analyzing current approaches to translating these phenomena in ‘Rick and Morty,’ and proposing original translation techniques. The findings demonstrate that achieving an adequate translation requires not only linguistic competence and a profound cultural understanding but also careful consideration of the specific type of precedent phenomenon as defined by Y.
