This article examines the development of Kumyk poetry for children from 1990 to 2020. It analyzes key features of this period, including shifts in thematic focus, stylistic choices, and imagery. The study investigates the dominant motifs, themes, and genres characteristic of contemporary Kumyk children's poetry. Our research reveals the influence of modern trends in children's literature, along with national traditions and cultural values, on the works of contemporary authors. The article presents examples of poems that illustrate the key trends in the development of Kumyk children's poetry during the period under consideration. Contemporary Kumyk children's poetry addresses social issues, particularly exploring the internal struggles of orphaned children, their grief, and their hopes for finding a loving family. Children's poets pay special attention to the issue of the native language, with poems urging children to actively learn and preserve it.
