The article is devoted to the current problems of language education in the context of dynamic socio-economic changes. The authors emphasize the need to move from traditional approaches to cognitive learning that takes into account the individual characteristics of a linguistic personality and his emotional and evaluative perception of a foreign linguistic culture. Successful language acquisition is considered as a continuous process aimed at developing the ability to use language content in a changing language environment. The article analyzes some factors influencing the effectiveness of teaching, including language abilities of students, learning conditions, teacher motivation and a subjective inner state of the student. Special attention is paid to interpersonal communication as a key aspect of language education and methodological foundations of teaching foreign languages.
