The article examines the position of the plebeians and their influence on the history of Rome in the period from the formation of the Republic to the Hortensius Act, which put an end to the class struggle between patricians and plebeians. The article pays special attention to the contradictions existing in historiography regarding the period before the codification of Roman legislation, which is characterized by a particularly meager source base. The article makes a significant contribution to the study of the complex and multifaceted period of Roman history known as the class struggle. The analysis of the role and position of the plebeians during the class struggle of the VI-III centuries BC allows for a deeper understanding of the complex social and political processes that took place in early Rome.
