DEVELOPING STUDENTS' PROACTIVITY AS A MEANS OF INCREASING THEIR MOTIVATION AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Nechina E. N.  (senior teacher, Department of English Language and Professional Communication, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (Moscow) )

This article proposes to consider and analyze the phenomenon of student proactivity, as well as suggest methods of proactive learning aimed at developing this quality. Proactivity is the behavior of a student when he knows how to set learning goals, set priorities, and aim for results. Proactive students understand that they are the subject of learning, therefore, the result of their learning activities depends on them, not on the teacher. They understand that to achieve the learning goal, it is necessary to make efforts. Students with a proactive attitude are disciplined, independent, not afraid of difficult tasks, ready to work in conditions of resource constraints. The formation of students' proactivity is one of the main tasks of studying at the university. This quality is highly valued in the modern labor market, giving competitive advantages to those who possess it. The development of students' proactivity at the university is facilitated by the learning system, which provides them with more freedom, opportunities to choose and act independently. At the same time, it requires the supervision of a teacher who guides students and organizes the learning process rather than acting as a lecturer.

Keywords:proactivity, motivation, academic performance, independence, awareness, attendance.
